Welcome fellow curious person,
This is my journal where I try out a new form of creativity in the art of writing while navigating my place in the world of design.
I will let the rest of my website introduce myself, for now let me take you on a journey of this week where a lot of thinking happened-
It’s the first week back to college, the first lecture is for Contemporary Design Culture, and I did not know what to expect within the 4 hours.
At a point in this lecture, we were all handed a sheet that prompts you to mark your place in the vast world of product design.

Sounds simple, right? Well, not quite. You see, as I glanced at the sheet above, my eyes didn’t know which word to focus on.
At first my eyes were immediately drawn to the word “Inventor.” the excitement of creating something entirely new – it seemed like the perfect fit. But then reality hit me.
I love a good invention, but I’m no Einstein. I don’t necessarily see myself as someone deeply immersed in the technical aspects of invention like good old Albert.
Next up, “Art.” Ah, now we’re talking! As an avid admirer of creativity, aesthetics and artwork, this category felt like home. But wait, there’s more to me than just art.
I found myself torn between multiple descriptors, each word reflecting a different facet of my design persona.
Feeling a bit like a kid in a candy store, I decided to get creative and charted my affinity for each word by dotting where I feel I fit and finishing it off with a funky curved chart by connecting the dots seen below; I love connecting the dots.

This exercise was an eye-opener. It taught me that in the world of design, there’s no one-size-fits-all label. Instead, it’s all about embracing the beautiful messiness of our multifaceted identities.
After studying the Dieter Rams documentary I revisited the sheet and added another touch beyond my funky curved chart.
Watching Dieter Rams’ story unfold made me realize that design is not just about fitting into predefined categories; it’s about breaking free from boundaries and carving our own paths.
So, armed with newfound inspiration, I ventured beyond the confines of the sheet and added my own personal touch.

As you can see I proudly added my own descriptor to the mix – “Design Entrepreneur” – because why limit ourselves to the words on a sheet?
In the end, this exercise wasn’t just about mapping out my place in the design world; it was about thinking out side the box. As I continue to be surprised through the lens of product design, I’m evermore excited for the journey.
Until next time,
