Welcome back curious reader
This week was the week of debating on Tuesday. What I learned from the debate was that I don’t just like speaking in presentations and pitches. I like speaking on design, in design, around design and about design. Also business and improvement.

So what do I mean by this? I’ll get to that soon, but first I’d like to talk about the way of why I can speak pretty well so far. I’m still improving, but I feel that I get there from practicing through presentations and pitches I’ve done and from speaking to people. From being thoughtful, listening and thinking, about what I’m saying and wanting to be someone who has a lot of questions, notes, thoughts and ideas. Even in the debate I found that I was listening a lot and then speaking to respond to it and then getting them to respond to me. Whereas if you’re only speaking, you don’t have time to think about what the other person is thinking about or planning. Rant over*

If someone said you can only learn 3 things for the rest of your life. What would they be? I’d say design, business and improvement. Those are my 3 favourite topics, if I had to learn two things for the rest of my life what would they be? I’d say design and business if I could only learn one thing for the rest of my life, what would it be? I’d say design. So it’s just those are the things that I’m very sure about and that I spent time with introspection and through my secondary school journey finding and narrowing down. I think they’re all interlinked, just as speaking is a skill of life I believe these three topics are a part of my life too.

When it comes to what I know, what I’ve studied, what I’ve researched and what I’ve prepared for, what I’ve learned, what I’ve learnt off lines for such as a business pitches. Speaking on things that I’m putting out into the world, or that I’m helping put out into the world, I like doing, and I feel that I’m good at it, because I’m passionate about it. I’m passionate about what I’m speaking about. Whereas if I was to speak on something, let’s say, if the debate topic was something to do with coding I might not be able to do that as easy. I feel I know, have studied and am passionate for the previous mentioned triple: design, business and improvement, I feel like with these three anything is possible. 2nd Rant over*
Steve Job’s stakeholder meeting in 1984, is an amazing example of what’s possible through product design and business. Its not even one of his videos to where he introduces the Apple iPhone or Mac computer. Jobs speaking is so inspiring to me and gives me goosebumps every time that I watch certain clips. I learn from him and the way he speaks on design and business. My favourite part of learning is seeing the action that goes along with it.

The above photo is me and my teammate pitching at the UL Student Entrepreneur of the Year 24 competition. Pitching ideas to judges and competitors, fuelled by the creative energy of my trip to London which I came back from the day before, was an experience to say the least. The competition was so fun and we ended up winning! Additionally, serving as a UL’s Consulting & Entrepreneurship Society’s co-president, nurturing a sense of community, and engaging in insightful discussions on design have been profoundly fulfilling endeavor’s that have shaped my path. I feel strongly that I am on the path I want to lead.

Steve Jobs once said, “We’re here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise, why else even be here?” This quote resonates with my passion for speaking on design. Whether it’s participating in debates or delivering presentations, I find immense satisfaction when my preparation culminates into a cohesive narrative. Furthermore, I derive fulfilment from assisting others in improving others design, presentations and pitches.

My journey into entrepreneurship and design began in my early teens. The thought of creating products with a purpose, solving real-world problems, and witnessing people benefit from them has always excited me. From inspiring speeches to engaging discussions on the intersection of design and business, I’ve drawn inspiration from various sources.

I aspire to always be in touch to communities of like-minded individuals wherever I travel. Whether it’s chatting with them over a call while I’m in Zimbabwe or sketching and designing alongside them in the nearest studio, I find immense joy in connecting with creative people. The studio environment, in particular, fuels my passion, and I enjoy expressing my thoughts through various mediums like blogs, YouTube videos, and more. Ultimately, my goal is to have fun while sharing insights on design, business, and improvement.
Design, business, and improvement are my three pillars of interest. Whether it’s pitching ideas on stage or mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, I find joy in sharing my insights and experiences. My ultimate goal is to contribute to a world where creativity and purpose intersect, leaving a positive impact on people’s lives and businesses.
Until next time,
